Sanches’ Lille stint

Renato Sanches would join Lille in August of 2019 on the back of a fairly poor spell with Bayern Munich, which also included an awful loan stint with Swansea City.

However, since moving to France, Sanches has rediscovered some of his best form that had previously led to Bayern buying him as a youngster back in 2016.

The now 24-year-old has featured 68 times for Lille, scoring five goals and providing six assists.

Sanches, of course, would also play a key role in helping Lille end PSG’s dominance over Ligue 1 last term.

And now, Sanches has seen himself linked with a Premier League side. That team is Arsenal.

Sanches himself all but confirmed recently that Arsenal and AC Milan are interested in his services:

“Maybe AC Milan and Arsenal are interested, but I don’t know. I’ve spoken to my agent, I know which clubs are calling me but I can’t say right now. But I know I’m ready. If an offer comes in, I’ll find out what’s best for me”.

Now, football.london citing reports from Calciomercato, claim that Arsenal are hoping to sell all of Bernd Leno, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in January in order to fund a move for Sanches.

Given Arsenal are set to lose Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny from early January for the African Cup of Nations, signing Sanches in the winter window may be a wise bit of business from the Gunners.
