Chelsea handed injury boost as striker returns to training

Chelsea’s attacking woes

Kicking off the return of Premier League football after what has felt like an enormously long international break, Thomas Tuchel takes his table-topping Chelsea side to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City.

The Blues have conceded just 4 goals all season, but have struggled to find a regular goalscorer across the opening phase of the season, with Reece James currently sitting top of the charts in west London.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have missed recent fixtures, after limping out the first half of a home clash in the Champions League with Malmo in mid-October.

Neither player was able to make the World Cup qualifiers for their country as a result, and while Lukaku posted his return to training on social media, there has been little information on Timo Werner until now.

Werner back in training

Now, it appears as though Werner could be set to join Romelu Lukaku in the matchday squad as they look to pick up another three points at the King Power Stadium. Chelsea have confirmed that the German has returned to full training, while they also confirmed the return of their no.9, Lukaku, too.

The Belgian, however, remains in individual, as opposed to full, training, meaning that the Saturday lunchtime kick-off could come just too soon for him to get a starting berth in Tuchel’s side.

Will Werner be given a role leading the line?
