Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was not shy in making his feelings crystal clear, when drawn on the defensive nature of Tottenham’s display at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Klopp’s troops, of course, welcomed Spurs to Merseyside earlier this evening, for a Premier League clash.

The Reds headed into proceedings aware that nothing but a victory would suffice, amid the club’s ongoing efforts to hunt down Manchester City atop the English top-flight table.

When all was said and done on Saturday, though, Liverpool were ultimately forced to make do with a share of the spoils.

This came as the hosts failed to build on Luis Diaz’s equaliser fifteen minutes with a crucial 2nd, after Son Heung-min had handed Tottenham a surprise lead early in the 2nd-half of action.

‘Should do more’

Liverpool’s failure to notch what would have proven such a vital winner at Anfield came through no major fault of their own, instead in large part owing to the superb show of defending put forth by Spurs.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle tonight, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the Lilywhites’ endeavours when out of possession was put to Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool’s boss, though, made use of the opportunity to aim something of a dig at both Tottenham and counterpart Antonio Conte.

Whilst acknowledging the ‘world-class’ abilities of his side’s latest opponents, Klopp also went on to suggest that the north Londoners should do ‘more for the game’, with the German not a fan of ‘this kind of football’:

“I’m sorry I’m the wrong person for that, I don’t like this kind of football,” Klopp began. “But that’s my personal problem. I think they’re world-class, and I think they should do more for the game.”

“I think the game against Liverpool they had 36,38% possession. But it’s my problem. I cannot coach it. So that’s why I cannot do it. So yes, world-class players block all the balls, really difficult.”

“Fine, whatever. Fine, absolutely fine. I just can’t. I respect everything they do, but it’s not me.”
