Two stars praised/Two slated: Man United’s fans make feelings clear after Watford drubbing

The Manchester United faithful have flooded to social media on Saturday evening, to make their feelings crystal clear regarding the latest performance of a quartet of the club’s stars.

Hornets run riot

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were of course back in action a short time ago.

In their first outing post-international break, the Red Devils made the trip to Vicarage Road, for a Premier League showdown with Claudio Ranieri’s Watford.

United headed into proceedings aware that nothing but a victory would suffice, after slipping a full twelve points off the English top-flight’s summit owing to Chelsea’s demolition of Leicester earlier today.

When all was said and done on Saturday, however, the visitors, yet again, failed to get the job done in frankly spectacular fashion.

Another hugely underwhelming performance, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, ultimately culminated in Solskjaer and co. being put to the sword by 4 (FOUR) goals to one.

After fluffing a pair of first-half spot-kicks, Watford finally took a deserved lead just inside the half-hour mark, courtesy of Josh King.

And it was two a short time later, as Ismaila Sarr made up for his earlier penalty miss courtesy of a wonderful drilled finish on the stroke of the interval:

Manchester United did manage to pull one back to set up what looked set to be a rip-roaring 2nd-half of action, when Donny van de Beek emerged from the bench to nod home Cristiano Ronaldo’s layoff just beyond the interval.

But, in the end, the Dutchman’s efforts only served in delaying the inevitable, as late strikes on the part of Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis condemned the visitors to an alarming 3-goal defeat.

Reds react

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close at Vicarage Road, it should come as little surprise to hear of those of a Red Devils persuasion being absolutely up in arms across social media.

In a lengthy stretch of post-match tweets, United’s supporters have made clear their frustrations with a whole host of their side’s stars.

None, however, have been singled out for more widespread criticism than the struggling Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and captain Harry Maguire, who was sent for an early bath twenty minutes from time this evening:

On the flip side, though, two positives were in fact also identified on the part of those watching on from home, despite the calamitous nature of United’s display.

These came in the form of the showings of seldom-seen duo Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho, who stood tall amid the mire at Vicarage Road:
